1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

    Hi All.
Would love feedback on the composition, arrangement, feel and anything else that jumps out at you for this:

The plan is to pitch this as a trailer song for a Game or movie. Is it ready? Is it not baked yet?
What would you change? What would you keep?
    Please be brutally honest :)

    Thanks,
    Roy

  2. There are two tracks, which one are we supposed to listen to? I went with the instrumental because I don't see anything with vocals being used in a trailer unless its something ridiculously popular already, that listeners connect with in a predictable way.

What game specifically do you think this would work for? I'm having trouble of thinking of something where this would be fitting. If you have a clear idea of what product this should work for, it'll probably help a great deal.

Imho it's a bit like you've combined things from too many different genres so that I never know where we're headed next with the piece. I think for a trailer you might want to have a more consistent aesthetic, introduce tonal elements much sooner, make it shorter overall and make sure having voiceover works with it.

Try this: go to netflix, and listen to the first 5 seconds of 100 trailers. I'm just not getting that "trailer music feel" from your piece, if you know what I mean. These things are all so trope based, I'm not sure you're doing yourself any favours commercially trying to break the mold. That's probably also the reason why so many people get sick of (making) trailer music.

Feel free to use/ignore my advice as you see fit, I'm just a noob here :).

  3. Thanks for the feedback martin :)
