Musical scores and parts

I have been making an agonizing effort to get my main concert music out in score/part form.

Of course I tried getting publisher long ago, but gave up after a couple rejections, and since then have learned about the practices of concert music publishers now: that they do no promotion, at best put your title on a list, and then take 90%. I'll be damned if I will accept that exploitation, especially when you see the lousy quality that is being put out by even major publishers. A number of other composers I've heard of have the same attitude and i wonder what other people here think. I have been using Finale since version 1.0, and so am obviously used to it, and I've been trying to uphold engraving principles and practices in my scores, inspired by the great older engraving that I have in my music library including some Dover scores of Beethoven, Brahms, Borodin, a lot of others that I've studied and tried to reproduce I also read Ted Ross's forbidding and mind-numbing treatise on proper principles of engraving but only a little of it sunk in, as it is almost a lifetime of learning - like that great video Mike Verta put on here.
