Noam, thanks so much for the suggestions. I will implement them pretty soon. Thank you again for taking time listening to all my crap.

I am almost through the piece..maybe a few seconds left..

spended the whole day again...on it..man that is exhausting to write that stuff. not easy for me..

Who knows where I stole that device (the low pad dissonance biting agains the major chord) at the end from? :D

Sorry John, I missed your post, but sure cool that you watch it. If you have suggestions let me know.

Great piece by John Williams, actually where is it? I wasn´t referring to this one but one track from silvestri. :D I really just meant the last chord at 5:50 with the biting low pad against it. There is one thing Silvestri did in BTTF..

I've been busy with my job and haven't had time to listen to what you sent me as a response a bit ago - it actually worked out as I got to see what you started with at the piano early and compare it to this complete orchestral version. I know you and others will go into greater detail for fine polish but your piece does the following for me:

-Clearly states the theme throughout with good filler / counter
    -Varies modulation
    -Varies orchestration
    -Varies dynamics
-Excellent production (most would never know its virtual)

It certainly captures a JW style feel in its presentation. I'd say it be nice to have this one performed. Awesome stuff man!

  5. Hi Louis,
How are you doing and your music? I saw you post a track. Let me check that out too.
Thanks for the feedback and no problem, take your time. I actually think the sound could be improved. I did spent today afternoon a bit time to inject into the sound a bit more air and a bit more clarity. When you compare this one:

Anyways I will start this week on the implementation for The Excelsior theme.

  6. Wow the new mix sounds excellent! It definitely has more air and transparency. it might be just a little harsh sounding (at 5k maybe?). But if your old mix was 0 and the new mix is 10, the ideal would be around 8 :)

BTW the John Williams chord is the first orchestral chord in ET (after the piccolo solo), it's an A major chord with C natural in the bass.

  7. Thanks Noam! Much appreciated. I have replaced the file on sc with the 5K workaround and another minor stuff. The reference for me was a silvestri track from BTTF

  8. @Noam Levy I really appreciate your pointing out the actual chord tones. Somewhere in my fading memory banks I remember this as being called a major/minor RUB. Why? I can not remember.
It also works with the chord in the mid-register and the dissonant note above the chord.

In my mind, I associate this technique with bitonality, such as we hear in the Planets. Any idea who first used this device?

  9. @Alexander Schiborr the Quest sounds awesome. I do think the latest version is an improvement. I would really love to be able to write action music as deftly as yours. The whole thing is great, with for me just the one exception I stated earlier. But the action section really blows me away. You have my complete admiration.

  10. Hej Paul, thank you. Yes..the trombones feel a bit heavy there in the lyrical part you were talking about and I still think about that... I know that..Still trying to find ideas to work that around..I actually think that your music is different than mine but I always enjoy your compositions a lot because they offer a lot of ambigious harmony which is great and I am not that much fond of that or maybe I am a bit afraid of because I know how easily I can fuck up structure..and therefore intention in writing.
I think that the track also the action oriented stuff is pretty basic for a few exceptions, just listen to the 2 handed piano, it reveals the simple character of it and still that track was total challenge for me..I am honestly at my limits with that track..for my actual writing skill. I need first to learn my own track and reflect what was good and what was shit there. During the creation process of the composition I reflected a lot of stuff Mike told me and also I listened a lot to the Race in order to keep focuss on my motif development and not to bullshit random stuff around in the composition.

  11. Sounds good Alex, tons of energy and your instruments sound fantastic. I'd still like to hear a real orchestra do it, I bet it be awesome.

I've been busy with my normal work and Trumpet for this band I'm in and I've had sporadic time to work on music. I do still want to work with you as I emailed a bit ago but finding consistent time is difficult. Maybe even a few sessions (just to talk things out a bit) and some feedback might be useful to me - I'll email you again soon. I'll respond to your feedback about my music in the other thread, ty as always.

  12. Cool. Glad you enjoyed the ride. Yeah..live orchestra, that stage which I never experienced yet in my life..would be a dream......:( well..
take your time, friend and I hope my suggestions help you a bit, and if you have question, you can always ask me by shooting a mail or posting.
    Thank you again.

  13. If anybody here would like to mix that track stems to make it better sounding than me, let me know. I would like to learn. Thank you guys.

Today I started an experiment and build a complete new template but this time no big room sound, everything very dry just to see how my orchestration would translate to this kind of setting. I changed also a few things and instruments and arrangements, also according to what Paul old me on the lyrical parts.
The libraries I used are a complete mix here, ranging from Caspian brass mixed with adventure, adventure strings, soaring stings, trailer strings, Berlin Winds, 8dio Agitato divisi Strings, Eastwest prc bla, bla bla...dudes..ey..to put all that shit together is not easy..in comparison to the other template this one sounds almost funny. :D
