No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Tides (feat. Budapest Film Orchestra)

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Federico Solazzo, Jun 11, 2021.

  1. Hello fellow composers! I want to share with your this track composed and orchestrated on StaffPad and performed by the (great) Budapest Film Orchestra! It is so nice to finally listen to your music performed by breathing human beings [IMG]

Also, I'm sharing the FULL SCORE + PARTS because I TRULY believe this kind of music should get back to PEOPLE PLAYING IT, experiencing something special and bouncing back this unique feeling to their live audience!

You can read more about this project (and download the score) here: https://www.federicosolazzo.com/tides
An interesting piece of the story you'll find on the link:
'This piece was born sometime in June 2018 during one of my late afternoon jogging runs in a beautiful park right next to where I live. The sun was shining, and suddenly a little melody popped into my head. I was hearing (and seeing as I have synaesthesia) also some interesting colours around it (harmonies), with some minor/major tensions overlapping (Eb major on top of Eb minor, resolving into C#11). They were not distracting from the very simple theme. They were just there, creating the mood/flavour.'

    Enjoy!!

  2. Very nice, Frederico. I enjoy the drama of the piece.
You mention on your website that this music accompanies a story. What is the story?

  3. Lovely, Nice sense of movement in the strings throughout. Dynamic. Great sound (production) and texture. If I was forced to offer a criticism, I would pick out the over-the-top close mic piano sound / recording choice which I know is in vouge at the moment. I like a piano that sounds like it's got space to breath rather than the mics almost touching the strings resulting in the impression that someone's tied your head to the soundboard and closed the lid - always comes across as unnatural sounding to me.

    Great piece.
