No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

14m0 "4x4" from Back to the Future (Virtual)

Discussion in 'Tips, Tricks & Talk' started by George Streicher, Jun 1, 2019.

  1. Just got myself a copy of the Omni Music Publishing score for "Back to the Future" and decided to sight play in one of my favorite cues! Thought you guys might enjoy it:

I used Cinematic Studio Brass, Cinematic Studio Strings, CineWinds and CinePerc.

On the FX bus I had an instance of FabEQ, QL Spaces (Burbank Studio Small) and Seventh Heaven's bricasti verb emulator (Boston Hall).

On the master bus I have FabEQ, Kramer Master Tape, Abbey Road Vinyl, CLA 2A compressor and Ozone Elements.

  2. Sounds great!

  3. I love this cue too. Here's the original:

And here's my take on it:

I tempo mapped the original, but the blurring of rhythm in the live recording made that a challenge.

  4. Hi George,
How are these libraries in terns of Playability/Performance (articulations,...)?
    And in terms of Dryness?

  5. They're definitely not the best in playability - lots of lag, so I tend to drop the tempo while I play things in.

Dryness wise, they have different mic settings (close, mid, room & mix) but they definitely have a room-y quality to them

  6. Sounds pretty good George! This is one of my favorite scores of all time, I know it pretty much by heart.

A little more expression at the ends of phrases and you would be golden.
As a side note, I have the conductor's score for this, is the omni edition better? (other than not being hand written)

  7. Pretty cool.

  8. I have a few of the Omnis and they're great. Would love to see that hand-written score.
