No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

You And I – jazzy orchestra

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Thomas Bryla, Jul 10, 2018.

  1. The word "DEMO" threw me off. Over here everyone demos to record live, not a live recording for a demo.

Would you feel comfortable posting your top, or top 3 ratings for contracting/recording services for EU orchestra's (No LA, or London)

Basically take everything into account - quality of final recording, $$$$, communication with contractors, turn-around time etc. and an overall rating.

In Prague I have used the Tadlow company with James Fitzpatrick and Nic Raine a few times to record at Smecky (spelling ?)
The film work I have done has sent my work all over the place, but some of these are "soccer ball" scores.

If you feel ok with it, I sure would find it valuable to know.
  2. @Doug Gibson the ones I recomend all the with all the factors taking into account are Eastconnection in Budapest and Smecky Studios in Prague either by James or Petr Pýcha.

People are also drawn further east by cheaper prices but they forget the other stuff like a good contractor, timely sessions, experience with click (this is also a reason that great concert orchestras in Europe don’t get many recording gigs) and communication with conductor.

  4. Would you be willing to share the score for this piece? It would be wonderful to peek inside the notes :)
  5. Sure thing!
